Essen, Belgium - 2018
Located in the north of Belgium, this small private residence is integrated in a rural and forest landscape. The sharp, monolith volume is cladded with a dark and warm wooden facade, which refers to its natural surrounding. The open plan interior is divided into 'separate' spaces, by a central, double-height volume. The forced circulation in and around the central volume, with it's glass outer walls, boosts the connection between the interior spaces and the rural landscape outside.
